WHS and Synology NAS

Postby Brainbox on Fri Aug 21, 2009 11:54 am

Hi all!!

Small Q:

I own a WHS and a Synology NAS. Both are connected to the same network.
I want to backup the WHS to my NAS say once a month. I tried a lot of things on the NAS, but I did not manage to get it working.

The reason why I want to make a back up from my WHS is simple. The WHS is on the topfloor, and the NAS is at the exit of my house. In case of fire or other things, my data is saved because I can always grap my NAS on the way out.....

Anyone suggestions?

Regards

I have an Acer H340 WHS and a Syno CS407e, both with four 1 TB drives. I backup the files on my WHS to my Syno using RoboCopy and it works quite well. You do have to create an account on the Syno that matches the ID & password you use on your WHS box. If you don't do that, the Syno will never let the WHS box do anything. If you want to create an image file of the C drive on the WHS, that's a different story; that's the one I'm trying to solve.
