Win 2003 server does not start my server application

Postby 1baltsae on Thu Sep 10, 2009 2:07 pm

I have a new HP MediaSmart EX487 and I would like to run a specific server application maximized on the Windows 2003 desktop whenever the WHS is running. I have placed the startup files for this application in the startup folder according to the Win 2003 server help files. However, the WHS console still loads and takes priority over the Win 2003 server desktop. When I use Remote Access, I would like to see the Win 2003 Server desktop with my server application running maximized after entering passwords.

Further, I have noted that the Win 2003 server does not start my server application(in win2003 startup folder) until I select "show desktop" under "advanced admin console". Why does Win 2003 Server delay this application startup, Win 2003 Server must be running in order for WHS to function!

Being a novice at this, I'm confused concerning this operating system.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Well a couple of things come to mind. First is can you tell us what the application is you are trying to run? have you tried putting an application like notepad in the same place and see if it starts? When I remote into my server a web page comes up telling me not to remote in. That can be removed using msconfig and going to the startup listing.

Please provide more info for more assistance

The application is LookOut 6.2 by National Instruments(NI.Com/lookout) and it's loaded and runs very well as designed on Win2003 Server. This has server and client provisions. It is NOT THE APPLICATION but my lack of experience with WHS that's the problem! Hoping that you fellows that had experience with WHS can help me.
