MS Windows Home Server

We want to collect some data on which ISP's are blocking ports with data filters etc or have restrictions on using a server at home. The information we need from you is:

1. The name of your provider?
2. Type of service it is? Either Satellite, Cable, Broadband, Dial-up etc.
3. The name of your providers package?
4. What country you live in?
5. What ports are blocked if any?
6. Any other relevant info?

Please post each entry under a new topic.

By collecting this information from you, we can hopefully guide others into choosing the best ISP's that do not block ports or have restrictions in regards to Windows Home Server.

1. I have Time-Warner (called Bright House) in my area of Flroida, USA
2. Cable
3. Road Runner (unlimited, advertised at 6MB Download speed) I can provide DSL Reports (DSLreports.com) speed data if needed.

5. As far as I know Time Warner does not presently block any ports. I have no trouble with WHS remote access and used standard methods of setting up my server for remote access. I *do* have UPnP turned ON.
6. I have not yet experienced any "data filtering" issues as far as I know. According to things I am reading on the net, that may change in the near future.

I really do not know exactly what the problem was, but I was totally unable to get remote access set up with my Windows Home Server. AT&T customer service (?) representative stated that no ports were blocked and that the problem was not an isp problem. When I switched from AT&T basic DSL to Comcast cable isp service everything worked normally. The comcast installer stated to me that AT&T did, in fact, block necessary ports for residential customers. This is AT&T DSL in north Georgia ... previous BellSouth area.

I have RCN cable in PA. They block incoming port 80 (HTTP) but not 443 (HTTPS) so although WHS control panel says my website is "not available on the internet", it actually is (using HTTPS)

Bell Canada i.e. Sympatico.ca block the WHS to communicate and their ADSL Router are not UPNP compliant also and very restrictive

Any port that will give me access to the Homeserver web page, remote access is also blocked.

They do not care about this or care that I care is my conclusion.
