Sorry for hi-jacking the thread, but it has the right title.

Virgin Meida have implemented a new 'Traffic Monitoring System' which will cut your connection speeds down to little better than Dial-Up for up to 6 hours, if you trigger it.
[I know this for a fact, we triggered it twice over the holidays]

Basically if your using any type of 'on-line backup' make sure its set to do its stuff middle of the night GMT, and not during the day.

Vm triggering is high you need to be in the region of 3gb before its triggered but it does exist.

Speaking to VM IT helpdesk is a comic in itself but they state their fair usage policy is there to ensure we dont misbehave, but deny they have a triggering software... they are not sure what a packet shaper is so i gave in,, :D

Virgin Media do not block any ports that stop WHS working. I have a 50MB Virgin connection it works ok. The WHS opens ports in the router using UPnP. The firewall on WHS should have the scope changed to allow computers on the internet to remote access and not just those on the subnet. My Remote Access can only be tested from computers outside the router. It does not work on the subnet inside the router.
