New Install

Postby BigSich on Wed Aug 19, 2009 4:29 am

So I am going to build a new comp to run WHS. My question is I know that the idea is to be able to run the server w/out a keyboard, mouse and screen. I would like to have all of the above, but I read some article where the guy said that the only option is to run the server through other computers and access via the internet. Is this true?

No, I setup the free trial version using an old PC, mouse, KB, monitor, and ethernet cable to the internet router. Once it is set up and running fine, you can install the connect software on the other PCs and laptops. After confirming everything is operating fine, you can "hide" the server, without anything attached except the power and ethernet cable. When and if you need to change anything physical on the server, you will need to hook up the other stuff for configuration. Hope that helps.
