How do I know WHS firewall is on?

Postby jlongene on Fri Oct 09, 2009 8:32 pm

I recently set up (for the first time) an HP LX195 with WHS on it. I activated the free trial of McAffee Antivirus. However, I can not find any "Security" tab in the settings or other options in which I can verify that the Windows Firewall on the WHS server is ON. I do not have "Remote Access" activated, since I do not plan to use it.

So . . . I have two questions:

1) If I have Remote Access disabled, is the WHS Windows Firewall OFF or ON?
2) Is Windows Firewall automatically "Always On", and if so, why can't I find a setting to verify this? It would make me feel better if I could see that it actually is on, rather than taking it on faith.

Thanks!

Start Menu->Control Panel->Windows Firewall

It's there, and it should be on. Remote Access should merely setup some rules for it.
